Respect and Protection

I- Privacy: not just a buzz, a true care and commitment

As lawyers we are deeply concerned with Internet privacy issues. Privacy infringement is a real major risk on the Internet.

Citizens of countries among European Union (EU) are protected under October 24th 1995 EU directive on personal data implemented in their own local law. We abide to this Directive and we warranty any user of our Web site to comply with its rules and obligation.

We do commit to respect, defend and protect personal information. We display this text explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to access, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

We declare and assume that personal information provided on our Web site, such as name, postal and e-mail address, telephone number, generally all information directly or indirectly issuing your identification, is private and confidential. Accordingly, the personal information you provide is stored in a secure location, accessible only by designated staff inside our office. Personal information is used only for the purposes for which you provide it, such as to reply to your questions and to deliver information.

We collect personal information only when strictly necessary to display our Web site and to implement our services according to your orders. When collected, personal information will not be kept to stay any longer than the time strictly necessary to display our Web site and to implement our services according to your orders.

When you ask us to register your mail address in order to receive information about our programs, your personal information will be added to appropriate mailing lists.

You are free at any time to change your mind and to make any correction you wish by sending us a mail at privacy@gitton.net

II- No release of information to third parties

This applies to all information collected or submitted at: www.gitton.net

On some pages, you can make requests or register to access to programs. The types of personal information collected at these pages are limited to:

Name - Address - Email address - Physical Address - Phone and Fax Number

These personal information will not be released to third parties except the strict obligation to perform the requirement for which you provide your personal information.

In no other circumstances we will provide your personal information to third parties..

III- The Way We Use Information

We use the information you provide about yourself when placing any registration only to complete them. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent strictly necessary to display our Web site and provide our services.

When under such an exception your personal information is shared with an independent partner, in order to implement our service, we do check if this independent partner provides the very same high level of privacy protection as we do.

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website. For example, we may collect the version of the browsers but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

IV- Computer Tracking of identifiable Information

Our computer is not set up to track, collect or distribute personal information about its visitors from the data implicitly and necessarily provided when displaying our Web site and accessing it.

Our computer does recognize the home server of visitors, their IP (Internet Protocol) address but not e-mail addresses. We can tell which Internet Service Provider our visitors use, but not the names, addresses or other information about our visitors that would allow us to identify the particular visitors to our sites. This implicit information is used only for internal purposes by technical support staff and to avoid you to file at every access when you once agreed with general web site terms and conditions or with any license displayed to access part of our Web site. For example when you once agreed with our license before accessing our contracts published on our Web site, you are licensed for every contract and for every access.

Then we propose to recognize your computer by the mean of "cookies". A cookie is a small amount of data that is transferred to your browser by a Web server and can only be read by this server that gave it to you. It functions as a key or an identification card, recording a password.

Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether or not to accept it.

Our web sites track information about the visits to our web sites. For example, we compile statistics that show the daily number of visitors to our sites, the daily requests we receive for particular files on our web sites, and what countries those requests come from. These aggregated statistics are used internally to better provide services to the public and may also be provided to others, but the statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to gather such information.

V- Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

VI- How You Can Access Or Correct Your Information

You can access all your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by mailing us at our electronic address: privacy@gitton.net or at our physical address: Cabinet Antoine Gitton - 4 rue Bayen 75017 Paris - France

We use this procedure to better safeguard your information. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that credibly shows error.

To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.
